Our Funders

Since its founding in 2015, Coko has been fortunate to secure grants from partners that are providing critical seed funding for our work.

  • The Laura and John Arnold Foundation awarded Coko a two-year grant for $1,850,000 starting September 1, 2017. The grant supports building out components of the open source xPub journal publishing platform, built on Coko’s PubSweet framework, with an eye to transitioning traditional subscription journals to open access.

  • The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation awarded Coko a two-year grant for $1,300,000 starting April 15, 2016. The grant supports the development of INK and the core PubSweet framework that works together with INK to create publishing solutions.

  • Coko co-founder Adam Hyde has a Shuttleworth Fellowship, awarded in 2015 and renewed each year, ending in September 2018. The Fellowship covers Adam’s salary and provides $250,000 per year to support Coko’s projects and community-building efforts.
